New or gently used prom dresses, formal dresses or cocktail dresses can be donated from March 4 through March 29th at Whitefish Bay Library or at the Whitefish Bay High School Library. Brittany Khatib from Whitefish Bay Library said she came up with the idea after seeing other libraries across the country conducting similar programs. "I read about one and thought it would be a fun project," she said. "It helps girls that may not be able to purchase a dress still have the opportunity to attend prom." Whitefish Bay residents who have a library card can access more than 3 million songs through the Freegal Music Service.
Whitefish Bay residents are now able to download free music legally through a new program offered at Whitefish Bay Library. Whitefish Bay Public Library has joined Library Ideas, a network of public library websites offering access to over 3 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of artists. The Freegal Music Service allows the library to increase the size and diversity of its collection by offering access to over 10,000 music labels from 65 different countries. Under the terms of the agreement, registered library card holders who are residents of Whitefish Bay can download three Freegal Music tracks in the MP3 format each week at no direct cost on Whitefish Bay's Freegal page. The Whitefish Bay Public Library celebrated 75 years of history and 10 years in its new building with family fun in Schoolhouse Park Sunday afternoon. The party featured a short fun walk, refreshments, a ventroliquist show from Wayne and Wingnut, balloon sculptures by Holly Nagel, crafts and face painting from Art Trooper and live music by Mike Brumm, all funded by Friends of Whitefish Bay Library.
