The village has announced it will stop picking up leaves on Friday. All leaves must be out on the curb by Thursday night, in time for the last pickup at 7 a.m. Friday. Village officials say the leaf pickup machines are no longer suctioning the leaves out of the street, so all new leaves needs to be put in bags or open containers.

You can finally get rid of those bags of leaves you've been collecting, because the village began its leaf pickup program on Tuesday. The village released the following advisory to residents today: Specific days are not scheduled for leaf pickup on individual streets. Branches, sticks and other woody material should not be placed with the leaves and should be left on the boulevard for chipping. The woody material makes composting of the leaves more difficult. Leaf pick-up is a priority and village staff makes every effort to collect leaves on a weekly basis, but it is dependent on crew availability, weather and the volume of leaves that need collecting.
