Whitefish Bay donated, recycled and came together as a community to learn more about environmental sustainability during the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation event.
Cahill Park was a hotbed of eco-activity Saturday morning during the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation's Green Day in the Bay event. Cars lined up to get rid of old televisions, computers and other electronics and household items. Those items were picked up by Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which will either recycle the items or sell them in one of their Milwaukee area stores. Volunteer groups also contributed to the eco-conscious event by cleaning up parks, roadways and other public spaces around the village. Inside the Cahill Pavilion, an informational eco-fair harnessed the knowledge of a diverse group of organizations, including the Whitefish Bay Community Garden, Whitefish Bay Garden Club, Whitefish Bay Farmers Market, Milwaukee …

There's one day left: Halloween. The fest is held at Old Schoolhouse Park, located directly across from the Public Library, 5429 N. Marlborough Drive. A little bit of rain doesn't stop people from showing up to the Ice Cream Social Wednesday night.
Tuesday, August 7, 2012
The ice cream social will be held from 6:30 p.m to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Schoolhouse Park.
What better way to spend a night than eating free ice cream with several hundred of your (geographically) closest friends? On Wednesday night, from 6:30 p.m to 8 p.m., the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation will host its last Ice Cream Social of the summer in Schoolhouse Park. The June ice cream social drew 1,200 people, who collectively took down 90 gallons of ice cream. Organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this go-around. The family-friendly event features cones and bowls of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, along with your favorite toppings. The root beer for the root beer floats is provided by Sprecher Brewing. The Whitefish Bay Community Band will play songs to entertain the crowd and maybe even encourage you to dance. This …

On the first night of summer, the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation served up 405 pounds of ice cream and a night of community fun Wednesday night.
Maybe it was the blazing heat, or perhaps the pent-up excitement of the first day of summer. Or maybe it was just the promise of free ice cream. Whatever the reason, a huge crowd of Whitefish Bay residents came to Old Schoolhouse Park Wednesday night for the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation's Ice Cream Social. Volunteers served up ice cream, while the crowd of families enjoyed the sounds of the Whitefish Bay Community Band and the sight of kids dancing along. When all was said and done, the Civic Foundation went through 90 gallons (405 pounds!) of ice cream. The demand for vanilla ice cream outpaced chocolate by a two-to-one margin, partially due to root beer floats. The Civic Foundation also went through 11 gallons of root beer and 16 cans …
