The "amazing all-church rummage sale" will be held Friday and Saturday at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay.
The Amazing All Church Rummage Sale will be held at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay on Friday and Saturday. The sale will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., a chili & hot dog salewill be held to fund the youth mission trip. On Saturday, a half-price sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and from noon to 2 p.m., a $5 admission allows you to ignore price tags and take what you want. The church collected donations for the sale earlier this week. Items for sale include books, jewelry, furniture, sports, luggage, small appliances, children's toys, clothing, linens, holiday and household items.

United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay hopes to pack 150,000 meals for starving children over a three-day period.
Roughly 6,200 children under age five die every day of hunger or malnutrition. That number is slowly going down, thanks to organizations like United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, which recruited more than 800 volunteers for a food packing event this week. The three-day food packing event is facilitated by Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit Christian hunger relief organization. Last year, Feed My Starving Children packed 162 million meals consisting of vitamin-packed flavoring, dried vegetables, soy protein and rice. According to Feed My Starving Children, the number of children dying from starvation has decreased 43 percent from 1992. The Friday night fish fry at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay raised money for Boy Scout Troop 400.
Fish, fellowship and Irish dancing came to United Methodist Church Friday night to raise money for Whitefish Bay's Boy Scout Troop 400. In addition to fish and shrimp, the scouts also served dessert and held a silent auction.

United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay is working with an international hunger relief organization to pack 150,000 meals for starving children throughout the world.
The United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, in conjunction with the Feed My Starving Children hunger relief organization, is sponsoring a food packing event to combat world hunger. The event will take place on April 4-6 at Portal Industries, 1015 Cedar Creek Road in Grafton, Wisconsin. The food will be packed in eight two-hour shifts over the course of the three days. The goal is to recruit 750 volunteers and to pack 150,000 meals. All are welcome to participate, regardless of church affiliation. Pre-registration is required and a $10 donation is requested. United Methodist Church has collected 85 teddy bears for Sandy Hook Elementary families, but due to the recent surge in donations, Connecticut officials are asking that the bears be donated locally in the Milwaukee area instead.

When news broke earlier this month about an elementary school shooting, the entire nation turned its focus to the small town of Newtown, Connecticut. Although it would have been easy to feel helpless about a tragic act against innocent children in a safe setting, some people, like Sharon Garrett, felt compelled to reach out and help. A collector of Teddy bears, Garrett called on her fellow parishioners at United Methodist Church to donate the stuffed bears to Newtown families impacted by the shooting. Final numbers are in for the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay's annual pumpkin patch sale: The church raised over $13,000 this year. "The pumpkins are grown by farmers who lease land from the Navajo Nation in New Mexico," said Melissa Ugland, the volunteer in charge of the event this year. "We pay them a percent of our sales." The pumpkins have arrived for the annual pumpkin sale at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay. The pumpkin sale begins today, Oct. 1, and will be held through Oct. 29. Sale hours will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. All proceeds will go to benefit missions to feed the hungry and to send youth on trips to Appalachia to repair homes for those living in poverty. New this year is a Trunk-or-Treating event on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the adjacent parking lot. Children and families are invited to come in costume and trick or treat from station to station, decorate a free pumpkin and enjoy food and fun.
