Taxpayers of all ages are able to receive free tax help at Whitefish Bay Library on Wednesday.
If the upcoming April 15 tax deadline has you freaked out, know that help is available nearby at the Whitefish Bay Library. Wednesday is the last chance for taxpayers of all ages to have their 2012 returns prepared free at the Whitefish Bay Library. TaxAide volunteers, sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation, can do most ordinary tax returns, but does not prepare returns for married taxpayers filing separately, or returns involving rental property, home offices, businesses with more than $5,000 in expenses and some other complicated issues. If you find yourself struggling with your income tax returns, and you don't know where to turn, look no further than the Whitefish Bay Public Library. The TaxAide program prepares state and federal tax returns without charge for middle- and low-income taxpayers at the library and at about a dozen other sites in Milwaukee County each tax season. The service is designed for older persons, but it does not exclude persons of any age. There is no income limitation, but they do not do returns that are unusually complex. The group has operated at the library for at least the past seven years with sponsorship and funding by the Internal Revenue Service and the AARP Foundation. All tax counselors are unpaid.
