The coffee shop will add an additional table and six patio chairs to an expanded patio just north of the existing patio on the west side of the building.
Do you like to sip lattes while taking in the scenes of Santa Monica and Silver Spring? With a new outdoor seating plan, Starbucks hopes to expand its popular outdoor patio by adding 104 square feet of patio space north of its existing 220-square-foot patio on the west side of the building. The coffee shop at 302 E. Silver Spring Dr. received the Plan Commission's permission Tuesday night to create the expanded patio, which would accomodate an additional table, umbrella and six patio chairs. Starbucks' current patio features two tables and 17 chairs. This is the second modification in recent history for the Whitefish Bay Starbucks store. The coffee shop went through a renovation in late October that expanded the coffee brewing area, and …

On any given day, Whitefish Bay and Washington, D.C., might seem like they’re a million miles apart. Today is not one of those days. As Congress and President Barack Obama attempt to hash out differences to stop America from falling over the “fiscal cliff,” Patch and Starbucks are teaming up to urge Republicans and Democrats to “come together.” The two companies are working together to make sure Congress gets the message America wants a viable solution to the country’s financial woes. In Whitefish Bay, Starbucks is located at 302 E. Silver Spring Dr., on the northeast corner of Silver Spring Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard. The so-called "fiscal cliff" encompasses all of the budget cuts and tax hikes that will automatically kick in if …

To spark conversation about changing America’s “national spirit,” the coffee giant will be handing out free drinks on Independence Day.
The line outside Starbucks is going to be even longer than usual this Fourth of July. In a full-page ad in major Sunday newspapers, Starbucks CEO Harold Schultz said Starbucks will be handing out free cups of coffee on the Fourth of July, and for a good reason. The ad titled “How Can America Win This Election?” talks of the country’s dwindling national spirit and political divide. Shultz hopes that by offering the free Tall cup of brewed coffee, it’ll raise awareness for his campaign #INDIVISIBLE, a national conversation across all social media so “we can all put citizenship over partisanship.” “I love America, but we all know there is something wrong,” wrote Schultz. “The deficits this country must reconcile are much more than financial, …

In the Patch arena, there's a battle of the beans brewing: Starbucks vs. Starbucks!
I should begin this column with a disclaimer. I've just downed, double-fisted style, 40 ounces of caffeine. And it was awesome. Today's battle of the beans is coming at you from the confines of coffee stardom. Starbucks has been a staple in our morning routines for just about ever. In fact, the Seattle-based chain is celebrating it's 40th birthday this year. That's a whole lot of mocha latta frappa whattas. Starbucks has been my go to place for a quick cup o' joe for as long as I can remember. That crowned mermaid-ish woman that graces their logo might as well be my BFF. I've enjoyed my favorite latte in New York, Miami, L.A., and every spot in-between. The beauty is my cup 'o joe tasted pretty much exactly the same at each location. …

Fox Point police investigating $5 bills being reprinted as $100.
If you are handed a $100 bill, make sure it is not really a $5 bill. The Fox Point Police Department is investigating a single individual trying to pass off counterfeit bills in Fox Point. On Saturday, at 9 a.m., an Fox Point police officer responded to a call at Starbucks in Audubon Court for a fraud incident. While processing the receipts from the previous evening, employee Kimberly Bauer told officers that she discovered the bill and believed it to be counterfeit. When police arrived, she showed the bill to the officer and after he examined it, he concluded as well that it was counterfeit. The watermark in the paper showed President Abraham Lincoln’s face, traditionally on a $5 bill, and the security ribbon matched for a five-dollar …
