The annual 5k run/walk attracted 650 runners and raised over $12,000 for the Whitefish Bay Education Foundation.

Families flocked to Whitefish Bay High School Saturday morning for the seventh annual Run the Bay event. The annual 5k run/walk attracted 650 runners and raised over $12,000 for the Whitefish Bay Education Foundation, which donates funds to the Whitefish Bay School District. In addition to the 5k run/walk and a kids fun run, there was also cupcakes by Classy Girl Cupcakes, coffee by Dryhootch, and children's games hosted by Whitefish Bay Patch. Were you at Run the Bay? Start Warming Up for Run The Bay

The annual 5k run/walk benefiting the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation will kick off at 9 a.m. on May 18.

The seventh annual Run the Bay event is just a week away on May 18. The 5k run/walk will kick off at 9 a.m. at Whitefish Bay High School, and the kids run will follow at 10:15 a.m. All proceeds go to support the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation, which donates funds to the Whitefish Bay School District. Online registration closes at 10 p.m. Tuesday. You can also register the day of the race from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Whitefish Bay High School.  This year, each of the four Whitefish Bay schools will compete against each other to see who can recruit the highest number of Run the Bay participants. The school that has the greatest number of team members in proportion to its school enrollment will win a traveling trophy and special …

Photos: Hundreds Hit the Streets for Run the Bay

More than 600 runners came out to support Whitefish Bay schools in the annual 5k run/walk event.

More than 600 people came out to Whitefish Bay High School Saturday morning for the sixth annual Run the Bay, a 5k run/walk organized by the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation to raise money for the schools.  Participants ran individually, with familes and strollers, and in groups. A team of school district employees ran together in support of Middle School Associate Principal Chuck Orvold's battle against cancer. David Salmon, a Shorewood High School cross country alumnus training for the Lakefront Marathon, won the race (and a $25 Performance Runnning Outfitters gift card) with a time of ‎16:55.08. This year was the first year the race was timed. Salmon told his mom, Liz Nelson, he came with the goal of finishing first. ‎"The kid …

Join Patch's Free Picnic Lunch at Run the Bay

Patch will be serving up food and kids games during the 5k run/walk event Saturday morning. Duke Pride will also hold a rummage sale after the race.

It's been a year and a half since Whitefish Bay Patch started, and to thank all of our newsletter subscribers and the community for your support, we are throwing a free picnic lunch. That's right, Patch is teaming up with the Whitefish Bay Public Education for the Run the Bay 5k run/walk event Saturday morning by serving up free brats, hot dogs and lemonade to participants from the west entrance near the Community Garden. We will also be hosting kids games like bean bag toss and mini-putt, so stop on by and enjoy the fun. We're excited to be involved with such a healthy, family-friendly event that raises money for public education. Week Ahead: Run the Bay, Silver Spring Development Meeting

In addition to the big Education Foundation fundraiser run, the high school parent association is partnering with Heiser Ford for a fundraiser, and Dunkin' Donuts is hosting a little league fundraiser.

Run the Bay is Just a Week Away

The Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation is hosting the 5k run/walk and kid fun run to benefit Whitefish Bay schools. Afterward, Patch will serve a picnic lunch and games, and Duke Pride will host a rummage sale.

The Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation's sixth annual Run the Bay 5k run/walk will be held Saturday, May 19 at Whitefish Bay High School. Bay Ball Raises $20,000 for Educational Technology

In addition to the Bay Ball proceeds, the Whitefish Bay Education Foundation has also allocated $36,000 in grants for innovative classroom tools.

On Wednesday night, the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation awarded the school district with $20,000 in proceeds from the Bay Ball fundraising event held in November. The Bay Ball, which was held at the Discovery Center this year, is the major fundraiser for the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation. Since the first Bay Ball held in 1996, the event has raised more than $1.2 million. The foundation had hoped to raise $75,000 this year. The Bay Ball raised $21,000 this year for the district's 21st Century Teaching and Learning Initiative to put new technology in classrooms. In the past, the money has been divided evenly among the four public schools and the education foundation, but because of the low fundraising this year, the …

Run The Bay Brings in Nearly $10,000

Roughly 450 people came out for the 5k run/walk event on May 21.

Run the Bay was not only a family-friendly event that brought the community together, but it also brought in nearly $10,000 in new technology funding for Whitefish Bay schools. Event co-chair Jill Patty said the 5k run/walk event on May 21 attracted 450 registered participants and nearly $10,000 in proceeds, nearly double the $5,000 in proceeds that were brought in at the last fun run event in 2009. "It was a good day all around, and the weather held out for us," Patty said. "The childrens run went really well, and they got little medals." All proceeds from the 5k run/walk event go directly to Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation, which distributes the money to the four public schools in the Whitefish Bay School District for the …
