Check out these spots — declared the best by thousands of Patch readers — in the Milwaukee area.
Patch readers (and fish fry connoisseurs) throughout the Milwaukee area cast thousands of votes over the past five days, helping us determine some of the best fish fry spots in the area. This is the first in a series of stories where Patch will ask readers to give their takes on favorite local businesses and places. The winners of the best fish fry contests were determined over the course of a week, from more than 20,000 votes cast, 145 comments left, 37 restaurant reviews and 100 Facebook Likes or Recommends. We're looking for the best, and need your help. Whether it's the favorite sandwich place in the North Shore, or the best place for frozen custard in Metro Milwaukee, tell us about it, and come back to vote in July.
There is a lot to celebrate in the North Shore: great parks, great bars, great restaurants. Wherever your favorites spots are—in Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point, Bayside or Glendale—we want to know about them. Help Patch determine the best of the best in the area by entering your nominations in each one of these categories. It's easy to do: Just fill out the nomination form embedded in this article. Write your nominee in the field provided, and submit them to us. We will accept nominations until July 6. Then, on July 23, come back to vote on which nominee is the best. Goodwill was the second runner up for best prom dress and Men's Warehouse took second place for tux shopping.
In this week's Readers' Choice, for prom shopping in the North Shore, Boston Store and Anchor Men's Wear stood out among the rest. Boston Store received 60 percent of the votes in this week's poll for best place to find a prom dress. The closest location to the North Shore is Bayshore Town Center in Glendale. And for the guys, Anchor Men's Wear, 121 N. Franklin St., Port Washington, took 62 percent of the votes for best place to find a tux. Patch reader's shared comments about their own hunt for the best attire for prom, including a few suggestions of just borrowing what's needed for that one special evening. Patch readers throughout the Milwaukee area weighed in on some of the best margarita choices in the suburbs. If you're looking to try something new this weekend, take some advice from your neighbors.
If you're looking for a new place to go out this weekend, give one of these margarita favorites a try. Culled from Patch readers' nominations, then whittled through poll votes, reviews, restaurant ratings and comments, we are pleased to present the Readers' Choice list for best margaritas. Oak Creek La Terraza won out in Oak Creek, squeaking out a victory over several other nominees. Greenfield and Greendale El Beso Mexican Restaurant and Cantina won the two-town contest for the best margarita in Greenfield and Greedale. Waukesha Mexican restaurant Casa del Rio took first place in the Waukesha Readers' Choice margarita contest. The tropical-themed Mequon restaurant received the most votes in our Patch readers poll, with COA at Bayshore coming in a close second place.
What's the best place for a margarita in the North Shore? According to the Patch readers that voted in our poll this week, you can find the tastiest tequila drinks at Highland House in Mequon. Highland House received 14 votes in the poll, with COA at Bayshore Town Center coming in a close second with 12 votes. The Highland House website a blend of California, Caribbean and Mexican influences.
