Balancing the lesson taught by dealing with law enforcement against the consequences of having drug possession on their child's record is the dilemma facing parents.
The arrest of an 18-year-old in Muskego for marijuana possession sparked a conversation on Patch about the responsibility of parents in relation to their child’s drug use. In this particular case, the teen wouldn’t let police search his car despite their suspicions, but when his mother arrived she gave the go-ahead and the man was arrested and charged with marijuana possession. Commenters raised both sides of the argument on behalf of the mother. Was she a good parent for refusing to cover for her son’s lawbreaking behavior? Whitefish Bay police originally arrested the man in connection to a strong arm robbery at Harder's Shell station.
A Whitefish Bay man is facing drug charges after he was arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of being involved in a robbery. Scott Lee Sanford Jr., 27, was originally sought by Whitefish Bay police in connection with a strong arm robbery at Harder's Shell service station at 303 E. Hampton Road on Monday. A gas station employee stated that a subject threatened to beat him and took $454 in cash from the register, according to police reports. On Tuesday, Whitefish Bay police arrested Sanford in the 5700 block of North 39th Street in Milwaukee. Although there was insufficient evidence to charge Sanford in the robbery, officers discovered marijuana in his front pocket. Police respond to two other reports of drunken driving and a retail theft at Sendik's last week.
A 31-year-old Greenfield woman was taken into custody after driving into two parked cars and attempting to flee last week. All police squads responded to the reported accident at Silver Spring Drive and Diversey Boulevard at 5:23 a.m on Oct. 3. The woman failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Columbia St. Mary’s hospital for a blood draw. She was cited with operating while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, imprudent speed, operating without insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt. In other police news:

About six to eight young people fled the beach area north of Klode Park at about 9 p.m. Saturday when police arrived to investigate a fire along the beach on the 6100 block of Lake Drive. How many pockets do you need to fit four bottles of liquor in your pants? A 54-year-old Brown Deer man tried to find the answer to that question Wednesday night, when he attempted to walk out of the CVS Pharmacy, 240 E. Hampton Road, with four bottles of liquor in his pant legs. He was arrested and issued a municipal citation for retail theft shortly after the incident at 7:06 p.m. He was released about one hour later. The four liquor bottles were valued at $75.
