WisSports bestowed the Jim Leonhard award on Jackson Weber, who has led the Blue Dukes' historic season on both offense and defense.
Whitefish Bay's Jackson Weber was named the top senior defensive back in Wisconsin, according to WisSports.net WisSports announced Wednesday that Weber received the Jim Leonhard award, which is named after the University of Wisconsin alumni who now plays for the Denver Broncos. Weber has received All-Conference honors at both receiver and defensive back in his career. In his senior year, Weber racked up 121 tackles (77 solo), 5 interceptions, and 11 pass break-ups, according to WisSports. He returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown and also blocked two kicks. “I have coached 36 years with two players in the NFL and he is as good as them,” head coach Jim Tietjen told WisSports. Homecoming night was made even more exciting by a 14-7 Whitefish Bay win over Homestead, the Blue Dukes' undefeated conference rival.
For the first time in 12 years, Whitefish Bay finally got the better of its North Shore rival. In an energized Lubar Stadium, the Blue Dukes toppled the undefeated Homestead Highlanders 14-7, bringing the team one win away from its first conference title since 1993. After the game, the Blue Dukes players doused coach Jim Tietjen with Gatorade for the first time in his 36 years as coach, which says something about the charged atmosphere for the big homecoming game. An all-blue student section was allowed to come down to the field and celebrate with players after the game. Rashadeem Gray led Whitefish Bay's ground game with 197 rushing yards at Lubar Stadium Friday night.
The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes trounced the Port Washington Pirates 49-0 Friday night in front of a pumped-up home crowd. Rashadeem Gray led Whitefish Bay's ground game with 197 rushing yards. The Blue Dukes dominated the rushing game overall with 375 yards to Port Washington's 80 yards. Whitefish Bay totaled 71 passing yards to Port's 12 yards. Whitefish Bay quarterback Grant Menard was six for nine with one interception. Port Washington quarterback Aidan Wojociehowski was three for 10, with one interception. Jackson Weber was Bay's top receiver, picking up three passes for a total of 28 yards.
