The Holiday Stroll on Friday will include a tree lighting ceremony, food, music, and the annual holiday parade at 6 p.m.
Whitefish Bay will kick off the holiday season with the annual Holiday Stroll on Friday. Special holiday promotions and shopping specials will be offered throughout the day in downtown Whitefish Bay. The evening features a tree lighting ceremony, food, music, and entertainment, including the annual holiday parade which is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. People of all ages will enjoy Silver Spring Drive as shops stay open late offering specials and treats. Kids will enjoy pony rides, train rides, or a visit with Santa and his reindeer. This weekend Whitefish Bay will have a parade, tree-lighting ceremony, train and pony rides, entertainment, and many shopping promotions.
Local businesses will kick off the holiday season this weekend with Whitefish Bay's Holiday Stroll event Friday and Small Business Saturday, an American Express initiative to promote local shopping in its second year. The businesses hope to offer an alternative to the traditional rushes at bigger stores on Black Friday. "My customer wants more of a fun shopping experience instead of a rush, rush, rush," said John Stuhlmacher, owner of Winkies. "We put out snacks and cider, and sample chocolates and candies to make it more relaxing and what I think I would like out of a shopping experience. You won’t see me near the malls.
