We Are Wisconsin's La Crosse headquarters a 'total loss' after Saturday morning blaze.

Fire officials in La Crosse are continuing to investigate a Saturday blaze that destroyed the regional offices of We Are Wisconsin, a union political action committee (PAC) that has pumped millions of dollars into supporting Democratic candidates in the upcoming recall elections. The La Crosse Tribune reports that the cause of the fire, which started at about 9:30 a.m., remains unknown. Firefighters thought they had the blaze under control in the afternoon, however, that wasn't the case and it continued into the evening, the newspaper reported. We Are Wisconsin used the building at 432 Jay St. to oversee its efforts in the 32nd Senate District recall election, which will be held Aug. 9. Incumbent Republican state Sen. "This may be the straw that breaks the indecision of some voters." I hope so. Thing is I think there are only about 4% undecided voters at the last poll. Its truly polarized. Photo Gallery: Safety Days at Bayshore Town Center

North Shore fire and police departments team up to focus on crime prevention and fire safety.

It's not every day that you can sit in a squad car or fire truck, shake hands with McGruff, the Crime Dog, or dress up like a firefighter. Those were just some of the events that took place at the 30th annual Safety Days at the Bayshore Town Center, where North Shore fire and police departments got their message out to the public about the importance of staying safe. The event gave families a chance to learn more about crime prevention, fire safety and what to do in an emergency - and to have a little fun while doing so.

Helping older adults live safely at home for as long as possible.

Plans Slowly Move Forward for Consolidated Dispatch Center

Bayside is first North Shore community to support plans for joint police and fire communications.

Plans to create a consolidated dispatch operation for police and fire calls in seven North Shore communities took a step forward Thursday night - but the proposal is anything but a done deal. The Bayside Village Board voted unanimously to support a dispatch  system that would serve Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, River Hills, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay and Glendale. The same seven communities are members of the North Shore Fire Department. Bayside is the first community to formally back the proposal; Brown Deer is expected to take up the issue on Monday. Fox Point, Bayside and River Hills already share dispatching services, as do Whitefish Bay, Shorewood and Glendale. Brown Deer does its own dispatching. A consolidated dispatch system could …
