With a win over Wauwatosa West Thursday night, the only thing that stands between the Blue Dukes and a trip to the state tournament is a sectional finals game against New Berlin Eisenhower on Saturday.
The Whitefish Bay girls basketball team looked strong in its win over Wauwatosa West Thursday night, and now the Blue Dukes are just one win away from the state tournament. The Blue Dukes came out strong right out of the gate with a score of 20-6 after the first quarter. The scoring was a little more balanced through the remaining three quarters, leaving the Blue Dukes with a 54-37 win to advance to the final round of sectionals Saturday. Maya Jones led scoring for the Blue Dukes with 15 points. Elisabeth Johnston, Lindsey Agnew and Ava Stock scored 12 points a piece. Now, the Dukes tip off against New Berlin Eisenhower (25-0) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Waukesha South. The winner of that game goes to the Division 2 state tournament. Last year…

First-quarter shutout sends Blue Dukes on their way.
Those who showed up early to the Whitefish Bay vs. West Allis Hale varsity girls basketball game Tuesday night saw a nail-biting ending in the JV game as Hale hit two late free throws to close out a tight one 41-38. Those who stayed for the varsity game were treated to less tension. Bay’s swarming defense caused confusion for the Huskies early on and they were never able to get into any rhythm as the Blue Dukes won the nonconference game easily, 40-20. “This is a tough game for us right now because it’s the end of the semester so they’ve all got projects and end-of-semester tests and they’re worried about exams next week,” Whitefish Bay coach Greg Capper said. “It’s tough to go on the road on a Tuesday night with that kind of thing … but I…
