Village Board Will Receive Update on Cahill Project Monday

Engineering consultants will talk about the design of a storm water detention pond at Cahill Park at the Village Board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall.

The Village Board will hear the latest details about a proposed storm water retention facility at Monday night's board meeting. The storm water retention facility, located at Cahill Park, was suggested by consultants last year as a way to reduce surface flooding in the area. The plan would utilize the western portion of the park by lowering that area for surface water retention.  The baseball field will be reconstructed in the lower portion of the project.  The newest information about the project will be presented by a contracted engineering firm, Crispell-Snyder, at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall. More than 600 runners came out to support Whitefish Bay schools in the annual 5k run/walk event.

More than 600 people came out to Whitefish Bay High School Saturday morning for the sixth annual Run the Bay, a 5k run/walk organized by the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation to raise money for the schools.  Participants ran individually, with familes and strollers, and in groups. A team of school district employees ran together in support of Middle School Associate Principal Chuck Orvold's battle against cancer. David Salmon, a Shorewood High School cross country alumnus training for the Lakefront Marathon, won the race (and a $25 Performance Runnning Outfitters gift card) with a time of ‎16:55.08. This year was the first year the race was timed. Salmon told his mom, Liz Nelson, he came with the goal of finishing first. ‎"The kid …

Twenty UW-Milwaukee students from Whitefish Bay will graduate Sunday.

These 20 UW-Milwaukee students from Whitefish Bay are among the more than 3,700 UWM students attending the school's commencement ceremony Sunday.

Absentee Voting Starts Monday at Village Hall

Village employees are expecting a high absentee turnout, so they are staying open a little later in the final run-up to the June 5 recall election.

Whitefish Bay election officials are expecting a lot of absentee ballots in the upcoming recall election, so Village Hall will be open later than usual in the run-up to the election on June 5. Village employees expect absentee ballots to be available Monday. Voters may vote in person in the clerk’s office Monday through Friday, June 1. Village Hall will be closed Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day. To accommodate the anticipated high absentee turnout, Village Hall will extend business hours until 5:00 pm for voting purposes only on Thursday and Friday May 24 and 25, and Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1.

Patch will be serving up food and kids games during the 5k run/walk event Saturday morning. Duke Pride will also hold a rummage sale after the race.

It's been a year and a half since Whitefish Bay Patch started, and to thank all of our newsletter subscribers and the community for your support, we are throwing a free picnic lunch. That's right, Patch is teaming up with the Whitefish Bay Public Education for the Run the Bay 5k run/walk event Saturday morning by serving up free brats, hot dogs and lemonade to participants from the west entrance near the Community Garden. We will also be hosting kids games like bean bag toss and mini-putt, so stop on by and enjoy the fun.
