On May 31st through June 1st, the Whitefish Bay High School Student Council is hosting a Relay For Life to raise money for our school charity, the American Cancer Society. This event is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk in which teams of students camp out around the high school track and participate in activities throughout the night.

Members of each team take turns walking around the track-at least one team member must be walking at all times between 7pm and 7am. The purpose of this Relay For Life is to celebrate those who have battled and beaten cancer, remember loved ones lost to this disease, and fight back against this disease by fundraising for research and treatment.

Many community members such as middle school and high school teachers as well as family of Mr. Farnsworth and Mr. Orvold will be present to support the event. Any members of the Whitefish Bay community who are cancer survivors or caregivers for cancer patients are encouraged to walk in the Survivor and Caregiver Laps during the Relay For Life Opening Ceremony.

Additionally, the student council is selling luminaria, or candle lit bags set up around the track which are personalized with a name, photo, message or drawing in memory or honor of a friend or loved one who has been affected by cancer.

More information about this event, signups for survivors or caregivers, and Luminaria purchases can be found at relayforlife.org/whitefishbayhs.
