School Budget Meeting is Thursday Night

The proposed tax levy is a 4.47 percent increase from last year – but district officials emphasize that number will drop if state aid allocations are higher than expected.

Whitefish Bay residents will decide whether to approve a 4.5 percent tax levy increase at the Whitefish Bay School Board's annual meeting Thursday night.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Whitefish Bay High School auditorium.

As part of the annual meeting, residents are required to approve a tax levy. The proposed tax levy is an increase of 4.47 percent from last year's tax levy. Shawn Yde, the district's director of business services, said the levy that appears on tax bills will probably be less than the $22 million included in the budget because he used very conservative state aid estimates.

The equalized tax rate is $11.35 per $1,000 of assessed value, which is an increase from last year's tax rate of $11.05 per $1,000 of assessed value.
