United Methodist Receives Donated Pumpkins After Vandalism

Bluemel's and Stein's both donated pumpkins after hearing about vandalized fundraiser.

Two local garden centers have reached out to help United Methodist Church with its pumpkin fundraiser after 40 pumpkins were smashed last weekend.

Stein's of Mequon donated 75 pumpkins and Bluemel's in Greenfield donated about 25 pumpkins to the church after hearing about the pumpkins that were smashed on Silver Spring Drive, blocking the road early Sunday morning.

Pastor Wiley Gladney said residents in the community have also reached out to help after hearing about the $1,000 setback in its fundraiser.

"People have come by to buy a pumpkin commenting that they saw the news report and wanted to support us," he said.

The church is selling the pumpkins as a missions fundraiser through Monday.
