Girl Scouts Collect School Supplies for Local Charter School

The girls collected enough pencils, book bags and other school supplies for all 82 students at the School for Early Development and Achievement.

Eight girls from Girl Scout Troop 1009 collected school supplies to help School for Early Development & Achievement.

SEDA is a free public school chartered through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is an affiliate of the Milwaukee Center for Independence, according to the school's website. The school has 82 students ranging in age from 3 years old to 8 years old.

By sending out fliers to friends and family, the local girl scouts collected enough school supplies to provide each of the students with all of their back to school supplies, including pencils, pencil cases, book bags, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, markers, erasers, pocket folders, three-ringed binders and notebooks.Β

The group also collected $500, which they will use to buy additional supplies for the school.

By collecting and distributing the supplies, the Girl Scouts hope to earn the Bronze Award, one of three additional awards available through Girl Scouts.
