Whitefish Bay Draws Messwood in WIAA Playoffs

Learn more about the matchup of these two North Shore neighbors, whose only losses were by one point (Whitefish Bay) and three points (Messwood).

Whitefish Bay's first-round opponent in the WIAA football playoffs won't be able to claim travel fatigue.

The Blue Dukes (7-1), co-champions of the North Shore Conference, host North Shore neighbor Messwood (7-1) at 7 p.m. Friday. Whitefish Bay is seeded second in its eight-team bracket; Messwood is No. 7.

The Blue Dukes had only a one-point defeat against Germantown scarring their resume. They allowed only 36 points in eight games, according to WisSports.net, and scored at least 40 points four times. One of those games was Friday, a season-capping 44-0 rout of Nicolet.

Messwood routed Living Word Lutheran 56-14 in its final game of the regular season, according to WisSports.net. Its only loss was a 43-40 defeat to unbeaten Lake Country Lutheran. Messwood’s lower seed was likely due to playing in the Midwest Classic Conference, populated with very small private schools.

The winner of the Messwood/Whitefish Bay game takes on the winner of South Milwaukee and Brookfield Central.
