Farnsworth Remembered in Memorial Cross Country Meet

At the opening of the meet Wednesday, Whitefish Bay Middle School Associate Principal Chuck Orvold shared his memories of Geoff with the crowd. He said Farnsworth may be gone, but he was still with the runners in spirit. 

Orvold described Farnsworth as "a masterful teacher, a dedicated and caring coach of several sports, including cross-country, and a much respected member of our community."

"Above all, he was simply a great human being filled with love for his family, his students and athletes," Orvold said. "He is, indeed, greatly missed. But he will never be forgotten."

Orvold said Farnsworth encouraged all athletes as they would run by, regardless of the school they represented. Although he will no longer be at any more cross country meets, Orvold encouraged the runners to think of him as they reach the finish line.

"Today as you compete, remember Coach Farnsworth and strive to do your best. He would be standing on the side of the course shouting for you to do so. And when you are done, be proud of your effort and celebrate your accomplishments along with your competitors," he said. "Good luck to all today and know that Coach Farnsworth will be with you, in spirit, at each flag shouting words of encouragement."
