New Digital Content at the Whitefish Bay Library

Check our new digital services at the Whitefish Bay Library including digital audiobooks and mp3 music dowloads.

Digital content is in high demand. Libraries are finding ways in which to offer digital content to their patrons. The Whitefish Bay Library has been offering ebooks for a couple of years, but we’ve recently added some exciting new services for music and audiobook downloads.  If you have questions, feel free to call or stop by the Adult or Youth Services desk. We’d love to demonstrate it and walk you through the process.

Freegal: Music Downloads
Freegal Music gives you access to millions of songs from over 10,000 labels including the Sony Music catalog. Song downloads are all in the MP3 format with no Digital Rights Management (DRM). This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs. A mobile app is also available for Apple and Android devices!

Users can download up to 3 songs per week. Every song has a sample clip you can listen to before you download. To get started, click on the Freegal banner on the library’s website or click here. This service is only available to Whitefish Bay residents with a library card.

OneClick Digital Audiobooks
The Whitefish Bay Library is happy to offer a collection of downloadable audiobooks from Recorded Books. OneClick Digital allows users to download a wide variety of titles from your home computer.

We offer over 3,000 adult titles and 900 children and young adult titles. Most titles are available for immediate download, which means no waiting or hold lists. Digital audiobooks can be played on any computer, laptop or a wide range of portable devices.

Then click on the "Create New Account" link in the upper right corner of the OneClick Digital page, and enter your information. After you create an account, download the app for your tablet or smartphone and listen to audiobooks on the go.

Overdrive: Ebooks & Audiobooks
Did you know that you can download e-books from the library on your e-Reader, tablet or smartphone? It’s easy to do. You can find ebooks and audiobooks from our website on the “Digital Downloads” page or under the “Ebooks and Databases” tab in County Cat. The Overdrive App is also available for download in the Amazon, Android, Apple and Barnes and Noble App stores. Stop by the Adult Services desk and we’d be happy to show how to search for and download e-books on your device.

CountyCat Mobile
We will also be rolling out CountyCat Mobile for Android, Blackberry, Apple and other smartphone devices. To download, just search your app store for: CountyCat Mobile. With CountyCat Mobile you can search our catalog, renew or hold items, scan barcodes to check library availability, keep up with library events, connect with us on Facebook and Twitter, and much more! CountyCat Mobile should be available sometime before the end of February.
