Whiz Kid: Kat Thien

High school freshman is headed to national FBLA competition in June.

Whitefish Bay High School freshman Kat Thien has qualified to participate in the Future Business Leaders of America's National Leadership Conference this summer.

Thien participates in the Business Club, an extracurricular club advised by Mr. Lippe of the Business Department, which includes a membership in FBLA. She competed in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure at the FBLA Regional Leadership Conference and took 3rd place, which gave her the chance to go to the State Conference in Appleton on April 11-12. She took 2nd and became the fifth student in Whitefish Bay history to qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando in June.

Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure is a good fit for Thien, as she previously served as the Region 4 President for Student Council, which included most of southeastern Wisconsin. In the national FBLA competition, she will complete a written test based on Robert's Rule of Order and the FBLA By-Laws. She will compete against about 150 kids in the national competiton.
