Whitefish Bay's ACT Scores Highest in the State
Average score of 26.6 also a record for the high school.
's latest ACT scores are not only the highest in school history, they are also the best in the state.
The 2011 graduates at Whitefish Bay High School scored an average ACT score of 26.6, according to data released Wednesday by the state Department of Public Instruction.
The second best score in the state was Homestead High School in Mequon, which scored 25.6. Other top scores were: Middleton High School, which scored 25.5, and Brookfield East High School at 25.3.

The statewide average this year was 22.2.
Whitefish Bay Superintendent Mary Gavigan said this year's test scores are the highest in school history, beating out the previous high score of 26.1, which was set in 2009. Last year's average score in Whitefish Bay was 25.7.

Gavigan said she was very impressed by the high test scores, as well as the 88.4 percent testing participation rate.
“The ACT results are certainly a reflection of and a credit to our teaching staff, our students, our parents and our community,” Gavigan said. “They reflect high expectations, a rigorous curriculum, quality instruction and wonderful parent support.”
