Richards Students Will Tackle Bullying Through Awareness

Students will join the national Stomp Out Bullying effort by wearing special blue shirts, voicing their thoughts and creating anti-bullying posters.

Richards School students will stand up to bullies this week.

As part of the Stomp Out Bullying initiative, the Richards staff will raise awareness about bullying throughout the month of October to start a dialogue with students about their role in addressing this problem.

On Monday, Richards will join schools across the country in wearing special blue shirts to honor Blue Shirt Day World Day of Bullying Prevention.

Throughout the week, all students and staff will also sign a school-wide anti-bullying pledge, which will be posted in the first floor lobby.

Students will also be asked to respond to a writing prompt about tolerance, kindness, acceptance and conflict resolution, and then share their thoughts with the school during the morning announcements throughout the month of October.

Every week, a video public service announcement link will be emailed to classrooms to be viewed and then briefly discussed.

Students will also be encouraged to create their own anti-bullying poster, which will be displayed in the hallways throughout Richards School.

Classrooms will also be invited to create an anti-bullying rap or poem which will be shared at a school assembly at the end of October.
