Record-Setters: Blue Dukes Take NSC Gymnastics Titles

Team hosts sectional Friday in preparation for defense of state title.

It was a record breaking night for the Whitefish Bay High School gymnasts on Friday at the North Shore Conference championships.

The scored a school-record team total of 143.975 to capture the title. This breaks last year's record of 143.2. The Blue Dukes beat Homestead by 1.7 points. Varsity gymnasts were Lucille Anzia, Maggie Anderson, Tessa Hansen, Alex Kubiak, Eileen Demet, Sofie Yang, Tory Patek, and Kelly Danek.

Anderson broke her all-time all-around record scoring a 37.575. She was first in all-around, first on floor excercise (9.55) and second on the beam (9.3), bars (9.325) and vault (9.4).

Yang was sixth on bars with an 8.7 and third on beam with a 9.275. Danek was sixth on beam with a 9.1 and fifth all around with a 35.75.

Bay's junior varsity was second in its conference meet with a score of 111.875. Grace Gent won the all around JV title with a 29.975.

Whitefish Bay hosts the sectional at 4:30 p.m. Friday and aims to repeat as Division 2 state champion the following week in Wisconsin Rapids.
