Sasha Barkhaus' painting won Best in Show and will advance to the national Creative Self-Expression Show, where she stands to win a college scholarship

Friends and families of art students admired student artwork Thursday night during the annual Creative Self-Expression Show at .

About 340 students submitted their work to the high school’s annual art show, but only 41 works are selected. All two-dimensional pieces of artwork were framed by the shop at 507 E. Silver Spring free of charge, and students get to keep their framed artwork.

Sasha Barkhaus' painting, titled 'Brother', was named Best of Show. Her work will now advance to the national Creative Self Expression Show, where she stands to win a college scholarship.

A panel of judges also chose winners in each individual art category. Barkhaus won the painting category; Marissa Korte won the photography/printmaking category; Anna Linton won the drawing category and Henry Bachman won the three-dimensional design category.
