With Earth Day just around the corner, students at are using recycled bottle caps to bring artistic flair to the school's hallways.

This week, first- through fifth-grade students  are using bottle caps to make large artistic displays of nature. Students have been collecting the bottle caps since November, so students are learning both artistic creativity and the value of recycling through the project, said Richards art teacher Janann Miller. A parent came up with the idea for the project after reading the book Bottlecap Little Bottlecap.

The project will be completed at the end of the week and will be hung in the hallway outside of the school's media center at a later date.
