Meet Patty Sibbernsen, New High School English Teacher

An English teacher of 12 years, Mrs. Sibbernsen enjoys rowing, hiking and biking when she's not teaching high school English.

The Whitefish Bay School District hired 22 new teachers this year, and Whitefish Bay Patch hopes to introduce all of them to the community before the school year gets underway.

You can read their stories here.

Today, we will introduce you to English teacher Patty Sibbernsen.

Education/Experience: I attended Drake University in Iowa for my bachelor's degree, Marquette for my master's degree in Education, and UWM for my master's degree in English. I've been teaching English for 12 years at Germantown High School. I also do work for the National Writing Project, and I've also enjoyed summer internships and part-time jobs at camps and nonprofit organizations in the Milwaukee area.

Why did you choose Whitefish Bay? I'm excited to teach in Whitefish Bay due to the rigorous curriculum in the English department, the community commitment to quality education, and the close proximity to my home. I've met numerous Whitefish Bay students, parents, and community members through various Milwaukee organizations, especially the Milwaukee Rowing Club and the Urban Ecology Center. They've always been top-notch people doing great work, so I'm thrilled to join the team.

Hobbies: Reading, cooking with my husband,Β hanging out at the playground with my son, traveling, rowing, hiking, biking--anything outdoors.

Favorite vacation spot: Can I pick three? Santa Rosa Island, Tasmania's Overland Trek, or Isle Royale.
