Meet Martina Adesokun, New 7th Grade Teacher

Whitefish Bay Middle School's new language teacher taught in Denver, Nigeria and Spring Green, Wis. before coming to Whitefish Bay.

The Whitefish Bay School District hired 22 new teachers this year, and Whitefish Bay Patch hopes to introduce all of them to the community before the school year gets underway.

You can read their stories here.

Today, we will introduce you to teacher Martina Adesokun.

Teaching position: I will be teaching 7th Grade Language Arts and Literature

Hometown/Current community: I grew up in Eagle, Wisconsin. My husband and I just moved to West Allis.

Education/Experience: I went to the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.  After college, I taught several years in Denver before moving to Nigeria where I taught at an American international school. I moved back to Wisconsin two years ago and have been teaching in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

Why did you want to teach in Whitefish Bay schools? My husband and I wanted to move closer to my family. When the opportunity to work at Whitefish Bay came up I was so excited to be a part of a district that had such a high value on excellence in education.

Hobbies: I love playing piano, singing, reading, cooking, and traveling. My husband and I are also pretty intense scrabble players:)

Favorite vacation you've ever taken: I was able to go to Kenya a couple of years ago. I spent time snorkling in the Indian Ocean and visiting the nature reserves. It was fantastic.
