Meet Andy Igras, New High School Business and Computer Teacher

After six years teaching in Illinois, Mr. Igras said he was attracted to Whitefish Bay because of the school district's commitment to excellence.

The Whitefish Bay School District hired 22 new teachers this year, and Whitefish Bay Patch hopes to introduce all of them to the community before the school year gets underway.

You can read their stories here.

Today, we will introduce you to teacher Andy Igras.

Teaching position: Business/Computers at Whitefish Bay High School

Hometown/Current community: Darien, IL; Milwaukee

Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Business Management from Illinois State University in Normal, IL; Teaching certification from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL; Masters of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. I worked six years as a business teacher at Kaneland High School in Elburn, IL.

Do you have any connections to Whitefish Bay? I don’t have any connections to Whitefish Bay as I just moved to Milwaukee from the Chicago area this past summer. When learning about different school districts during my employment search the one thing that made Whitefish Bay stand out is their commitment to excellence; that commitment is something I wanted to be a part of and I’m looking forward to the school year.

Do you have any hobbies you would like to share? Traveling, cooking, music, playing and watching sports, and keeping up-to-date with news, especially business/stock market news.

Favorite vacation you've ever taken: I don’t really have one specific vacation that stands out as a favorite but my favorite types of vacations are road trips across parts of the United States, getting to visit and learn about all the different parts of the country is something I find very interesting.
