Introducing Derek De Vinney, New High School English Teacher

One of Whitefish Bay High School's new English teachers has a passion for education, writing and playing bass guitar in his band.

The Whitefish Bay School District hired 22 new teachers this year, and Whitefish Bay Patch hopes to introduce all of them to the community before the school year gets underway.

You can read their stories here.

Teaching position: I'll be teaching English at Whitefish Bay High School.
Hometown/Current community: My hometown is Madison, WI, but I now live in the Riverwest neighborhood.
Education/Experience: I graduated from UWM and since then have been working as a substitute teacher and a coffee slinger at Shorewood Alterra.
Do you have any connection to Whitefish Bay? I do not have any prior connections with Whitefish Bay, but I'm excited to get to know the area and the people.
Do you have any hobbies? My second biggest passion next to education is writing and performing music. I've played bass in the same band for over 5 years.
Favorite place you've visited: Last year my band went on a summer tour along the west coast. For a few of us it was the first time seeing the Pacific.
