Homecoming is Just Around the Corner

Homecoming festivities include the parade, tailgate and – of course – the big game against Milwaukee Lutheran.

Homecoming is only a couple weeks away, and a week full of festivities are planned, including the Friday night football game on Sept. 16.

The homecoming parade will be held that Friday at 5:30 p.m. on Marlborough Drive from East Birch Avenue to East Fairmount Avenue. Some side streets will be closed for brief periods.

After the parade, the community is invited to join in the Duke Pride spirit at the eighth annual community tailgate and silent auction on the high school softball field from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. will cater the event, serving brats, hot dogs, chips, drinks and desserts. The cost is $7 per person.

The event is sponsored by the Whitefish Bay Gridiron Club, which will donate proceeds from the silent auction to the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes football program. In the event of rain, the event will be held in the high school field house lobby.

Kickoff for the homecoming game against Milwaukee Lutheran is at 7 p.m that night. Prior to kickoff, high school cheerleaders and Junior Duke football players will form a spirit tunnel, and fifth-grade Junior Dukes will play a halftime scrimmage.

Earlier in the week, students will hold a spirit bowl and then a bonfire on that Monday night, and a spirit concert will be held Wednesday night. The homecoming dance will be held that Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
