Duke Pride Roundup: Tennis Team Third in Tough North Shore Conference

Football team visits Homestead on Thursday night with playoff berth on the line for Blue Dukes.

GIRLS TENNIS: Congratulations to the entire team on finishing in third place in the conference and special kudos to sophomore Lily Hayes on her second place finish at No. 1 singles. The squad plays at Nicolet on Tuesday in the WIAA Sub-Sectionals and on Thursday at Greenfield in the WIAA Sectionals. Qualifications for both the WIAA Individual State and WIAA Team State tournaments will be determined on Thursday.

BOYS SOCCER: The soccer team beat Homestead last Tuesday by a score of 5-2 to clinch at least a tie for the conference championship. The team can win the title outright by beating Nicolet on Tuesday night at home at 7 p.m.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Also on Tuesday night, the boys volleyball team will host a non-conference match versus Burlington starting at 6:30 p.m. Burlington is ranked No. 10 in the state in the coaches poll.

DEBATE: The Debate team had another successful weekend. At the Brookfield East Invite, Nathan Lafrombois earned qualification to the State Tournament, as well as finishing in fifth place overall in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Andrew Gegios finished closely behind his teammate in sixth place and earned half of his qualification to the state tournament.

SCHOOL NEWSPAPER: The first edition of this year’s Tower Times was published on Friday.

FOOTBALL: The football game this week will be on Thursday at 7 p.m. at conference-leading Homestead. The last week and need one more victory in their last two games to qualify for the playoffs. If you haven't seen video highlights from previous games, watch these Patch wrapups from games against , and .

CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to both the boys and girls squads on their first-place finishes at Saturday’s Cudahy Purgolder Invite. The boys were led by Nate Gomoll in second place and finished with 60 points. Emma-Lisa Murphy was the girls individual champion as the Blue Dukes dominated with just 24 points. The teams will have their last regular season meet at Tendick Park in Saukville on Thursday.

There are no athletic events scheduled this Friday and Saturday.
