Cumberland Tennis Courts Open for Play

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the new courts at 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 17.

Cumberland Elementary School now has new blue tennis courts.

The reconstruction was made possible with $128,000 in donations, including a $50,000 donation made on behalf of Jeffrey Hayes. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the new courts at 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 17.

The three Cumberland School courts, originally built in the 1940s, are now able to be used again for the first time in many years. The courts will feature the QuickStart Tennis program, which scales down all aspects of regulation tennis so the game becomes specifically tailored to a child’s age and size, helping them be successful from the first swing.

Cumberland School is incorporating tennis into an already established physical education program, thanks to the Wisconsin Tennis Association's donation of child-sized racquets, balls, and nets.
