Blue Dukes' WIAA Soccer Foe is Conference Rival

Cedarburg visits Whitefish Bay at 7 p.m. Thursday in a sectional semifinal. The winner moves on to Saturday's sectional championship.

Whitefish Bay is hoping for a repeat performance Thursday night when it hosts North Shore Conference rival Cedarburg in a WIAA Division 1 boys soccer semifinal.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Sheldon B. Lubar Stadium.

The Blue Dukes, 13-5-2 according to WisSports.net, defeated the Bulldogs 1-0 back on Aug. 28 on a first-half goal by T.J. Schmid. Cedarburg, which like Whitefish Bay finished 5-2 in the conference, is 11-5-2 overall. The Bulldogs are seeded eighth in the 16-team sectional and defeated top seed Arrowhead 2-1 to advance to the semifinals.

The winner of this match faces the winner of Thursday’s match between Brookfield East and Menomonee Falls on Saturday for a trip to state. East is ranked 10th in the state in the latest coaches poll; Whitefish Bay and Menomonee Falls each received honorable mention.
