2nd School Board Candidate Emerges

Kristin Yunker will run for one of two open seats in April. Incumbent Cheryl Maranto is the only other candidate so far.

A second candidate has emerged for the two available Whitefish Bay School Board seats in the April 2013 election

Kristin Yunker, 43, filed candidacy papers last week, according to Patrice Milzer in the district office. She joins incumbent Cheryl Maranto, who filed candidacy papers for another term. Board member Michael Mosner has filed non-candidacy papers and will not run.

According to a press release sent Tuesday, Yunker has been a Whitefish Bay resident for more than 15 years. She’s been an active volunteer at Cumberland Elementary and Whitefish Bay Middle School, and has served on the board of directors for Advocates for Education, a position she plans to resign to avoid potential conflict of interest.

Yunker has two children in the district. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a master’s from UW-Milwaukee.

Interested parties have until Jan. 2 to file candidacy papers with the school district. The election is April 2.
