Library Director Takes New Job in Cedarburg

Linda Pierschalla is resigning after four years at the head of the Whitefish Bay Library.

After more than four years at the helm of the Whitefish Bay Library, Library Director Linda Pierschalla recently announced that she is resigning to take the top job at the Cedarburg Public Library.

Here's the announcement that was sent out via the village's email service:

It is with bittersweet emotion that I write this article knowing my last day as Director for the Whitefish Bay Public Library will be Friday, November 1st.  I've had a wonderful time getting to know some really great people at this library and in this community.  I was offered and accepted the position as Director for the Cedarburg Public Library; it is my hometown and they are building an entirely new facility that I will oversee and I am excited for the challenge to create something special.

Some of my favorite accomplishments at WFB Library include the over 20,000+ increase in circulation from when I started to reach the 363,072 items checked out in 2012.  Other increases in programs and program attendance and residents registered for library cards show me what a great staff we have here and how much this community loves and supports its local library.

I've also had the pleasure of working with wonderful members of the Library Board of Trustees who are deeply committed to making the library a great place for all who enter.  And of course, I can't say enough about Friends of the WFB Library and their care and concern for the financial needs of the library that are not met through the Village tax levy.  Without  Friends we would not be able to offer all the great programs, events, aesthetic touches, and new furnishings that warm up our facility.  Thank you Friends!

I'm sure WFB Public Library will continue to thrive into the future and the next person who fills my shoes as Director will inherit a smooth sailing ship.

My best to you all,

Linda Pierschalla
