Whitefish Bay Chooses Pasch over Darling

Pasch's hometown support was not enough to carry her to victory over Sen. Alberta Darling in the tough 8th Senate District recall election Tuesday night.

State Rep. Sandy Pasch narrowly won the support of Whitefish Bay with 169 more votes than Sen. Alberta Darling in Tuesday's recall election.

The hometown support for the Whitefish Bay Democrat was not enough to put her over the edge, as Darling, a 20-year incumbent Republican from River Hills, defended her Senate seat with 54 percent of the vote.

Seventy-four percent of registered voters in the village cast ballots in the recall election.

The Democrats needed to pick up at least three seats Tuesday in order to have a chance of taking control of the state Senate, but they only took two with the victories of Democrats Jessica King and Jennifer Shilling.
