Election Day: Live Updates, Candidate Info and Where to Vote

Whitefish Bay does not have any contested local races, but residents will see a new village trustee, school board member and county supervisor on the ballot.

Election Day is here, and although there are no contested local races on the ballot, Whitefish Bay voters are showing up to polls to weigh in on Milwaukee County races and the presidential primary.

Follow Patch throughout the day for details on voter turnout and comments from voters about the races on today's ballot:

12:30 p.m.: Spoke with a Democrat who is voting for Carolina Stark and Lindsey Grady for the non-partisan Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge race. Stark has been referred to as the "anti-Walker" candidate, but I have not read much about Grady's political beliefs.

12:45 p.m.: One Democrat at Cahill Square Park said they voted for Rick Santorum, who they believe would be the weaker candidate in the general election against President Barack Obama. Spoke to three people who said they believe Romney pretty much has the nomination locked up, though.

2:45 p.m.: Whitefish Bay voter Michael Braun said the most important issue on the ballot for him was the two-part referendum question asking voters whether they would support cutting the size and salary of the Milwaukee County Board – a change he said is "long overdue."

2:50 p.m.: Voter traffic is slow at Whitefish Bay Library, with 17 percent turnout as of 2 p.m. Voter turnout is also lower than expected at Whitefish Bay Village Hall right now, with 290 voters casting ballots by 2 p.m.

Patch caught up with voter Dan Sabin on his way to vote. He said he is voting for Mitt Romney because he likes what he stands for.

"He may not be the Tea Party favorite, but he's a middle of the road conservative, and that's not all bad," he said.

If Romney wins Wisconsin, Sabin predicted Santorum will stay in the race until the Republican National Convention. When asked whether he thinks Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich will drop out before the convention, Sabin said "I sure hope so."

"The only thing they're doing is wasting their money and bashing the other candidates," he said. "We need to keep our eye on the real opponent, who we'll face in November."

While the Voter ID law had taken effect and impacted the primary races in February, a recent injunction has put the requirement that voters show identification on hold.
