What Did Sensenbrenner Say About Michelle Obama?

Media reports say Milwaukee-area congressman said First Lady has a 'large posterior.'

U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner is garnering national attention for comments he made about First Lady Michelle Obama Wednesday while talking on a cell phone at the Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

Referring to Obama's efforts to get children to eat healthy, the Republican was overheard saying, "She lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself," according to the blog FishBowl DC.

The blog said Sensenbrenner was talking on his cell phone about an incident he said occurred three weeks ago while at an Episcopal church auction.  Sensenbrenner was overheard by a "Democratic operative" saying that after buying all their “crap,” a woman approached him and praised Obama. It was then that he made his comment about her figure, FishBowl reported.

The story about Sensenbrenner's comments has since been picked up by the Huffington Post, the Daily Mail, ABC News and even the Hollywood Reporter.

Several media outlets made note of Sensenbrenner's large size and thought it ironic that he was making comments about Obama's figure.

A spokeswoman for Sensenbrenner said the congressman planned to apologize to Obama for his remarks, telling FishBowl DC:

"Mr. Sensenbrenner was referring to the First Lady’s healthy food initiative. He doesn’t think the government should be telling Americans what to eat. While he may not agree with all of her initiatives, he plans to contact the First Lady’s office to apologize for his comments."

Sensenbrenner represents Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District, which includes Milwaukee's North Shore, Waukesha, Menomonee Falls, Sussex, Brookfield, Wauwatosa and Port Washington. His writes a column, " that is a regular feature on Patch sites in his district.

All these comments because of a big ass? I wonder how many more would be made if we were talking about a different part of the anatomy? Really who cares if someone is thin as a rail or built like an oxen? IMO it is personal choice what we put into our bodies, or how much we feed on. Judging by many comments in this thread, there is significant support for a fat tax. Imagine going to McDonalds and spending that $15 for lunch + $5 fat tax...well you get the picture. What is next then? Taxing Twinkies and Ding Dongs?

"All these comments because of a big ass? " That's a heck of a thing to say about Jim Sensenbrenner. Not that I don't agree, mind you . . .

Some women might just take Jim's off the record comment as a compliment! Now com'n everyone there are more important things to command our attention and besides it's the holiday season, Christmas to be more exact, can we try to be nice to one another, count our blessings and be more cordial and respectful to one another.
