Village Services Tweaked for Good Friday
Garbage will be collected Thursday, and the village clerk's office is the only open office at Village Hall.
Friday garbage collection will take place on Thursday, due to the Good Friday holiday.
Whitefish Bay Village Hall will also be closed in observance of Good Friday. But with the spring election coming up Tuesday, the Whitefish Bay clerk's office – like other clerk's offices across the state – is required to be open for in-person absentee voting.
"The absentee voting statutes provide no exemption from or postponement for deadlines occurring on the Thursday or Friday before the Spring Election, regardless of their relationship to religious observances that are not recognized as state holidays," Wisconsin Government Accountability Board elections division administrator Nathaniel Robinson wrote in a memo to clerks earlier this year.
