Village Board Will Receive Update on Cahill Project Monday

Engineering consultants will talk about the design of a storm water detention pond at Cahill Park at the Village Board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall.

The Village Board will hear the latest details about a proposed storm water retention facility at Monday night's board meeting.

The storm water retention facility, located at Cahill Park, last year as a way to reduce surface flooding in the area. The plan would utilize the western portion of the park by lowering that area for surface water retention.  The baseball field will be reconstructed in the lower portion of the project. 

The newest information about the project will be presented by a contracted engineering firm, Crispell-Snyder, at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall.

The village has applied for a substantial hazard mitigation grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Department of Natural Resources, and the village is expected to hear back later this fall if it is selected for an award.

  • The board will also discuss another sewer update at Monday night's meeting. In April, on preparing the village for 10-year, 100-year and 500-year storms, the board told village staff to concentrate on the six flood-prone areas of the village. Village engineers have prepared a plan that includes the stom water upgrades in those areas, as well as other related improvements, needed over the next 10 years.The village's financial consultant will give an overview of the cost at the June 4th board meeting.
  • Trustees will also act on a contract with financial consultants Ehlers and Associates to provide assistance with creating a second tax incremental finance district in the Silver Spring Business District. The TIF district was proposed by The Mandel Group as part of their . The Mandel Group will pay for the Ehlers contract and fees charged by the village attorney.
