Road Work Ahead: Six Streets to Be Resurfaced This Fall

Whitefish Bay to spend $280,000 to fix roads that haven't been resurfaced in a long, long time.

Six village streets will be resurfaced with new asphalt this summer for the first time in decades.

The Whitefish Bay Village Board Monday approved this year’s asphalt paving project for $280,194. The roads will be grinded down to an even surface through milling and then paved with asphalt. Most of the roadways have not been paved in more than 35 years, so pothole patching is no longer feasible.

The streets slated for construction include:

  • Lydell Avenue, from Monrovia Avenue to Devon Street
  • Bay Ridge Avenue, from Lakeview Avenue to Montclaire Avenue
  • Kent Avenue, from Lakeview Avenue to Montclaire Avenue
  • Hollywood Avenue, from Henry Clay Street to Fairmount Avenue
  • Bartlett Drive, from Fairmount Avenue to Chateau Place
  • Lancaster Avenue, from Santa Monica Boulevard to Lydell Avenue

Construction is expected to begin Sept. 6 and last two to three weeks, finishing no later than Nov. 18. Homeowners in those areas will be charged a special assessment of $10 per foot based upon the amount of road frontage in front of their homes. For most residents, the bill will be about $400.
