Lauri Rollings Steps Down From Village Board

A new community member is sought to fill the remainder of her term.

After eight months of pregnancy, Trustee Lauri Rollings has decided she will no longer be able to fulfill her duties on the Village Board.

Rollings said her resignation from the Whitefish Bay Village Board will be effective June 1, but she will be flexible if the board wants her to stay on longer. She is expecting a baby boy on June 18.

"I've been doing a lot of soul searching, and I don't think I can balance my responsibilities to the village in addition to my full-time job and the duties of being a first-time parent," she said.

Rollings is the executive director of the Plumbing Mechanical Sheet Metal Contractors Alliance.

First elected during a four-way write-in election in April 2011, Rollings has been active on the village's Private Property Inflow and Infiltration committee, as well as on the North Shore Board of Health and the Community Development Authority.

The village is currently accepting applications for residents interested in serving out the remainder of Rollings' term, which ends May 2014. Interested residents can fill out this application. Applicants will be interviewed, and one will be appointed by the Village Board.

Rollings said it has been a rewarding experience to serve as trustee for the last two years, but she felt residents deserved a trustee who can devote the necessary amount of time to analyzing village issues.

"Whitefish Bay is a great place to live, and the people have been great," she said. "I really appreciate the opportunity to be at least a small part of finding solutions to the problems facing the village. I feel confident we have the right people in place to guide us as we continue to tackle these problems."
