Heavy Rains Caused Brief Flooding Tuesday Night

No reported basement backups, but some roads were impassable during last night's storm.

Tuesday night’s rainstorm led to some flooded intersections but no reported basement backups in the village.

Assistant Village Engineer Aaron Jahncke said about 1.2 to 1.3 inches of rain came down Tuesday night, with a total of 1.6 inches measured throughout the day.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, Jahncke said the village has not received any reports of basement backups.

Jahncke said some intersections were flooded, with water rising above curb level for about a half hour or hour. Santa Monica Boulevard was flooded at Hampton Avenue and Chateau Place, and the intersection of Woodruff Avenue and Fairmount Avenue also saw water rise above curb level during the storm, Jahncke said.
