Former What's Poppin' Owner Flamed for Billboard About Obama and Gas Prices

Bret Eulberg, who used to own the popcorn business on Silver Spring Drive, is behind a billboard message saying President Obama is responsible for higher gas prices.

Have you seen the billboard along I-94 in downtown Milwaukee that blames President Barack Obama for higher gas prices?

While the billboard says it is "authorized and paid for by WI business owner," the Journal-Sentinel did a little more digging and found out the anonymous business owner is Bret Eulberg, the owner of Robert Haack Diamonds in Greenfield and Glendale.

Eulberg also owned on Silver Spring Drive. After , he and his wife Marie an ice cream shop called Marie's Treats and Eats.

According to the Journal-Sentinel, Eulberg paid $6,100 a month for the sign, which reads "Gas $1.85. Obama took office. Tight drilling regulations. No pipeline. Obama=Higher Gas."

This isn't the first time Eulberg has touched a political hot potato. When concealed carry legislation was passed in June, he he would not allow guns in his store.

After looking closely at the issue, the Journal-Sentinel's Politifact Wisconsin team rates the claim "mostly false."
