Historic Survey Report Presentation

Is Your Home an Historic Property? Do you own an historic home, and thereby qualify for income tax credits?

Nearly 75% of the properties in Whitefish Bay qualify as historic, according to a study by the Wisconsin Historical Society, and that may make their owners eligible for 25% income tax credits when they do routine maintenance and improvements.

Architect Jennifer Lehrke and State Historian Joe DeRose, who researched the year-long study in 2011, will present their findings at the Whitefish Bay Public Library on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.  The public is invited.

Dozens of well-known architects, designers, and contractors – as well as the early pioneers – have left their imprint on Whitefish Bay during the past 176 years, and each of the nearly 3,000 properties they built are listed in the state report along with details like the date constructed, the original owner, the architect or builder, and the architectural style.

Copies of the 400-page “Whitefish Bay Architectural and Historical Intensive Survey Report” are available at the Library’s Reference Desk and at Village Hall.  The report is also on the websites for the Library (www.wfblibrary.org, click “Historical Collection) and Village (www.wfbvillage.org, on the Historical Preservation Commission home page).
