Dunkin' Donuts Could Come to Whitefish Bay

Chain wants to open first North Shore shop in new retail development on Silver Spring Drive at Bay Ridge Avenue.

Dunkin' Donuts would like to open its first North Shore location in the ground floor of a new retail center under construction on Silver Spring Drive at Bay Ridge Avenue.

The Whitefish Bay Plan Commission will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday regarding the businesss' request to obtain a conditional use permit in the upcoming Baysider Retail Center at 106 W. Silver Spring Drive, just east of the .

The proposed retail building is expected to house four total retailers, and Dunkin' Donuts is seeking to locate on the east end. Under the conditional use permit application provided to the Plan Commission, Dunkin' Donuts would occupy a 2,000-square-foot space with seating for 21 customers inside the building and 16 customers in the outside patio. The business wants to be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Founded in 1950, Dunkin' Donuts now has more than 9,000 restaurants in 30 countries worldwide. In recent years, the restaurant has expanded its offerings to include frozen and iced beverages, espresso-based beverages, bagels and muffins, breakfast sandwiches, and an all-day oven-toasted menu that includes flatbread sandwiches, hash browns and buttermilk biscuits.

The commission will also consider a request from Susan Fredman Design Group, LTD, to open a new business, Susan Fredman At Home, at 401 E. Silver Spring Dr., in the Berkeley Building. The business, which would offer lighting, textile, home accessories and interior design services, would operate in conjunction with James H. Hoffman Homes, which is currently located in that space.
