Construction Begins on New Public Works Building

A 40,000-square-foot building at Lydell and Fairmount avenues is expected to be built by the end of the year.

Construction is underway on a new building for Whitefish Bay's Department of Public Works.

The construction crews began working on the footings for the building more than a week ago, and they're expected to be finished by the end of the year. Located on the southeast corner of Lydell and Fairmount avenues, the new public works building will span 40,000 square feet and cost an estimated $3.5 million to construct.

The land was formerly used as a parking lot, as well as four-on four soccer field for the Whitefish Bay Soccer Club. The soccer club was granted the ability by the Village Board last week to play at Klode Park from April through June. To prevent wear and tear on the turf, the soccer club will rotate between three different spots in the park.
