Whitefish Bay Man Sentenced in Child Porn Case

David Pitel asked a Whitefish Bay cop to fix his computer, and the cop found images of young girls on his computer.

A Whitefish Bay man who was found in possession of child pornography after asking a cop to fix his computer could spend one year in prison and eight years on probation if he meets the state's conditions.

David Pitel, 53, last March after he asked an off-duty cop to fix his computer, which contained images of partially nude girls. In December, Pitel pleaded guilty to the first count of possession of child pornography, and the second and third counts were dismissed and read into the first count for sentencing.

Last week, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Rebecca Dallet sentenced Pitel to eight years probation, under the condition that he continue treatment with a mental health professional, undergo sex offender assessment and comply with reporting requirements for the state's sex offender registry. Dallet suspended a one-year jail sentence until Pitel's first probation hearing in July.
